Afro+Tech 2016: Showcasing Success

San Francisco, CA — November 1, 2016Transparent Collective (TC), a non-profit dedicated to empowering African-American, Hispanic and women founders, will present the Startup Showcase at this year’s AfroTech conference on November 11, 2016. In pursuit of diversity and inclusion, the TC program provides resources, mentorship and networks to help the next batch of remarkable founders.

The Startup Showcase will spotlight two TC program alums, Ofo Ezeugwu of WhoseYourLandlord and Brian McKinney of Benjii, as well as two new founders, DeShuna Spencer of KweliTV and Rica Elysee of BeautyLynk, who will enter the TC program early next year.

Pursuing the Silicon Valley dream is difficult for any startup,” said James Norman, partner at Transparent Collective and co-founder of Pilotly, a startup shaping the future of video content creation, “but when you come from a background different from the majority, those challenges are amplified. We hope to become a core resource for our founders, helping them make significant impact in their respective industries.”

The Startup Showcase at Afrotech 2016 will provide an exclusive look at these founders’ projects and experiences in the current tech ecosystem.
